A bot for every level

Each bot plays at a fixed rank, so you always know what you are up against. Beginners start around 30 to 20 kyu. From 10 kyu to 1 dan the bots play solid, patient Go. The dan bots, up to 10 dan, are as strong as professional players. Move up one rank at a time and see how far you get.

The bots run on KataGo, the strongest open Go engine, but each one is tuned to play at its rank rather than at full strength. A 15 kyu bot gives you a 15 kyu game.

Handicap, komi and colour

Set a handicap of up to nine stones, adjust komi, choose black, white or random, and decide whether the bot should resign when it is losing. Bot games are untimed, so you can think as long as you like.

An AI coach on every game

When the game ends, the AI coach reviews it with you. It picks out the moves that cost the most points, shows the better move and explains the idea behind it in plain language. Playing bots plus a coach review is the fastest way to climb the kyu ranks.
