Biography

Wang Xinghao (born February 2, 2004) is a Chinese 9-dan and currently ranked #1 in China. He turned pro in 2016 at age 12 and was widely considered the strongest teenager in the world before turning 20.

In April 2025 he captured his first major world title at the 1st Beihai Xinyi Cup, beating fellow Chinese player Li Qincheng 2-0 in the final to become the first player born after 2000 (i.e., from 2001 onward) to win an international major.

Earlier that same year (February 2025) he reached the Nanyang Cup final, where he lost 0-2 to Shin Jinseo. In February 2026 his run at the 1st World Kiseon (Shinhan Bank) Championship ended in the final with a 1-2 loss to a 33-year-old Park Junghwan.

Wang Xinghao's first major world title. He swept Li Qincheng 2-0 in the final, becoming the first player born after 2000 to win an international major championship.

Wang Xinghao controlled this game from the middle onward and was already at 91% when he played E3 on move 120. Li Qincheng's G5 on move 121 took the last doubt away, up to 99%. The better G4 is obvious to most strong players, chosen by 74% of 9-dan players, but by then there was little left to save.
